Annual Report: 2009 (Online Version)
Background
Encouraged by the proceedings of two national conferences on master’s psychology in 1990 and 1994 which emphasized the need to organize appropriate recognition for individuals with masters degrees in applied psychology and the need for training programs to have the benefits of accreditation available to them, MPAC (then known as IBAMPP) developed and implemented a voluntary accreditation process for applied masters programs in psychology in the fall of 1995. Adopting the training standards developed by the Council of Applied Masters Programs in Psychology (CAMPP) and refined at these two national conferences, the Accreditation Manual was first distributed in October of 1995 to programs inquiring about the accreditation process. In November of 1995 the Council approved its first pre-application form, which is the Council's formal acknowledgment to a program’s eligibility to apply for accreditation. The Council received the first completed self-study and application for accreditation in November of 1996, and that program became the first MPAC-accredited program in April of 1997. Each year since that time, MPAC has reviewed several additional programs. Most recently revised in December 2006, the current edition of the Accreditation Manual reflects the most recent accreditation standards and is available to any interested program on our website (www.MPACSITE.org). In addition to the review of applications for accreditation, MPAC has participated in the Third National Conference on Masters Psychology (2000) and other venues where quality standards in applied psychology are addressed.
Current Status of Accreditations
Nineteen applied masters programs in psychology from a total of 18 universities are currently accredited by MPAC. In 2009 two programs received full 10-year re-accreditations following site visitations. A site visitation for an additional program is in the planning stages for completion in 2010. Pre-application forms were completed and approved for four additional programs. It is the Council's policy not to identify programs in the process of applying for accreditation, but currently accredited programs are listed below.

Current Status and Plans for the Future
The Masters in Psychology Accreditation Council achieved an important milestone in 2007, which continued into 2008 and 2009. MPAC’s initial accreditation process began in 1997, and because the initial full 10-year accreditation periods ended in 2007, for the first time in its history MPAC began the process of re-accreditation in 2007, and throughout 2008 and 2009. The continued financial viability of MPAC was apparent in 2009; the Council maintained a stable financial account balance throughout the year.
Several MPAC members attended the recent CAMPP/NAMP joint conference in Pensacola (November 5-7, 2009). Presentations were made by the Executive Director and Chair regarding the accreditation process and ongoing challenges.
In 2010 the Council will continue to review additional applications for initial accreditation as well as re-accreditation. The Council will continue its pursuit of national recognition as an accrediting body for applied psychology at the master’s level. To this end, the Council continues to enhance the Council’s organizational structure and to revise the organization’s policies and procedures. It is expected that this revision will be completed by mid-year of 2010. As a part of its continuing review process, the Council plans to contact member programs in an effort to review current accreditation standards and the accreditation process.

Financial Status
MPAC is an independent, self-sustaining, non-profit organization. Council Members and the Executive Director serve on a volunteer basis without remuneration. MPAC’s operating budget is fully financed by accreditation fees. The Council’s end of the year balance was $5,798.23.
Respectfully submitted,
